Overnight backpack trip this weekend from Phoenix

Hello, we are looking for a backpack trip this weekend. We can't leave until about 5pm on Friday and considering traffic, I figure we would leave Saturday morning. Any suggestions? I think it's still suppose to be pretty warm next weekend. We have done the cabin loop so was hoping for something diff...

Re: Reavis Ranch 2.0: No Gimpy Hippies!

@jdcollard We stopped to see if you needed any help. Also went on a walk about getting out of the ranch. :D Also smoked us on the trail coming out. I was the one with my nephew. He wasn't really feeling the hike out. (Neither was I) I was gonna say that we were in the Green FJ with the Hike...

Re: Reavis Ranch 2.0: No Gimpy Hippies!

We were just there last weekend from the South...and probably met Kevin and didn't know it!! We found a few apples on the ground that we were able to bring home! To top off the wonderful trip...we ended up with a flat tire out there. Try changing that on the 'flat' road. Hubby was awesome! We have b...

Re: Seeking tips: 3-day Washington TH to Cabin Loop

This sounds excellent. I'm a bit hesitant about 'off-trail', but it sounds like it would be difficult getting lost, correct? I think I recall the area we are talking about here, where it dips down and a sign is there indicating Dane canyon. I'll have to read more thoroughly through the Dane loop des...

Re: Seeking tips: 3-day Washington TH to Cabin Loop

Okay - so something like up to the rim and up the Haught to Pinchot - then venture over to Dane and Barbershop canyons. I'll need to get a good map. Thoughts on campsites for 2 or 3 nights? Guessing up the Haught there are some fine spots? I'm sure there are plenty of obvious spots - but let me know...

Re: Seeking tips: 3-day Washington TH to Cabin Loop

I'm chiming in a little late here, but my wife and I are planning on doing this same trip. Parking at Washington Park and heading up top. We have previously done the East loop, which included Barbershop, Houston Brothers and U-Bar. This time we want to do the Western side. (Haught) I keep reading ab...

Re: Suggestions for 3-Day Backpacking Trip Near Phoenix in O

I also would highly recommend Reavis Ranch...we have done 2 trips out there in the fall. It is an out and back hike but there is water, solitude, and amazing views. Our first trip we dumped our packs and did a side hike to the ruins on the way in...camped overnight...2nd day did a hike to circleston...

Re: Missing hiker in Mazatzals - gpsjoe (Joe Domin)

I never met GPSJoe but had a wonderful backpacking trip on the Barbershop trails thanks to him. I think of him every time I drive by the exit. Hopefully something good will come out of the fire in the area.

Re: Upper Ribbon Falls/Grand Canyon

We used the above link to find the upper falls this past weekend. I asked at the BCO and was told there is a 'social' trail that leads back to the upper falls. Once you know where to leave the main trail, it was easy for us to follow...We followed a trail all the way back to the falls and checked ou...

Familiar with the ravens from a rafting trip on the Colorado. Absolutely incredible what those little devils can do.
