Throwing this one out there for anyone possibly interested in some fast and furious whitewater rafting. I will be flying into Pittsburgh to meet my friend Dean on Friday, September 5. We will drive south into WV the following day (4-5 hour drive). Our rafting days will be Sunday and Monday. We plan on doing Upper Gauley section both days. Lower Gauley is more tame, but certainly an option for anyone who decides to join this trip. We are also planning to upgrade at least one of the days to a 12' boat (4 man). Smaller boat allows for some more aggressive routes and a wilder ride. Plans are developing as I write. I will drive back to Pittsburgh with Dean and fly back to PHX on a 6:30am flight Wednesday, September 10 (back into PHX around 10am).
Delta and United both have flights into Charleston WV (about 40 miles west of Gauley River). For anyone wanting to shorten the trip by flying into Charleston on Saturday and/or leaving Monday night/Tuesday morning, we could probably help with some transportation to/from airport.
These are guided raft trips (you will have an experienced guide in each raft). We are booking the trip through ACE Adventure Resort (800-787-3982). I will post more information after we figure out exactly what specific options we decide on for the two rafting days.

Whitewater on the Upper Gauley WV
This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee.
