The Tonto has started their management plan revision process. If you want your views heard, now is the time. If ever our individual opinions count, it is as these plans begin. They are hungry for input, it's the raw material of the whole plan, and (perhaps a bit cynically) it is what validates the huge expense of creating them. There are two public meetings left and you can submit views online at http://www.tontoplan.org/home
Take some time, wax poetic, punctuate profoundly, speak up for what is important to you on Phoenix's huge backyard.

Re: Tonto National Forest Plan Revision
Too bad this information wasn't on the actual Tonto FS site... which I've frequented regularly to check on the status of the 'plan' and all the while wondering why their process, which was supposed to be COMPLETED a few years ago had not moved forward.
And now on the Tonto Plan Org site when I look for a community forum meeting in a reasonable proximity of me, I find it took place last month, and the only upcoming meetings are in 2 in Cave Creek and 2 in Young.
I guess it didn't help us to have the Mesa District office in Mesa yet only one meeting was held in the Mesa area.
I just took a look at the latest timeline for the revision... it will be 2018 before whatever is decided is actually implemented.
With the FS being charged with providing revisions every 15 years and the last one was back in 1985, it has been a long time coming.

It's been the #1 link at the top of the web page for a looooooooooong time. I believe over a year.
And there's another big link on the home page near the bottom.
The public meetings were also featured in their regular news feed at the beginning of May: http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tonto/new ... PRD3798683
What's the saying about not seeing the forest through the trees?
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Yup, hind-sight is pretty much 20/20.chumley wrote:What's the saying about not seeing the forest through the trees?
While I visit the Tonto FS site frequently (usually for other reasons) I believe I got bored with seeing no progress for so long that I'll admit I probably haven't clicked the 'Forest Plan Revision' link in the last 3-4 months. My bad...
But then maybe it's my eyesight that's on the blink... I can't read the text inside your red circles. ;)
