Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
My sister lives on the east side (Speedway/Houghton area) and reported a downpour with the sun shining in the afternoon!

I think there is an actual name for that...was posted on an old forum survey about where people are from..but I must be channeling my inner Kingsnake today, because not finding it in my advanced searches..reported a downpour with the sun shining in the afternoon

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
It's too hot to do it here, but miss the 10 PM sunsets I had in Idaho. You could go for a decent hike or bike ride after dinner and still have light until about quarter after 10. Only downside was winter when you would drive to work in the dark and drive home in the dark.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
Well, I miss Daylight Savings Time. I leave work so late, and the sun comes up so uselessly early, that other than the yearly change, DST is better. Funny how after an acceptable amount of time, things you initially found annoying end up being your preference. I still would rather we pick one and stick with it! ]SpiderLegs wrote:It's too hot to do it here, but miss the 10 PM sunsets I had in Idaho. Actually, since Arizona is a state that wants to be different, why not just create it's own time zone, about 30 minutes later. Be between Pacific and Mountain time, and never change. At least then I wouldn't leave work and ride my bike home in the near dark, at the time of year with the latest sunsets.

I think we should go with the Nepalese or Central Western Australia example. Just to mess with everybody.

The states that think they can control the universe and change what time the sun rises and sets are weirdos.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
To the first response: great, I am glad it works for you. This time of year, being on DST worked great for me, and the sun rising at 550 was pretty good when it set after 8 Pm.CannondaleKid wrote:It works just fine for me.Jim_H wrote:the sun comes up so uselessly earlyNewsflash... To the second, yeah, that was a mistake and I was for some reason thinking of NM when I wrote that.
The last, that is some creative quoting and you know it. I am proposing something, not asking why they do something. You dishonestly joined 2 separate sentences, which produces a lie. I am proposing that since they like to be different, they should go between a DST and MST by being 30 minutes ahead year round, and after doing so not utilize a shift of time. I am well aware they do not change time in this state.

Re: 2014: Rain, Snow, Wind, and Sun
I've always been a big fan of DST, mainly because there are only a couple weeks in the year in which I have any chance of getting home before dark. Perhaps I'll care less after retiring.

My intent was NOT meant as creative quoting or to dishonestly join or produce a lie, I just didn't see the need to include ALL the text, which, as you can see this time I'm including the whole quote so I'm not misunderstood a second time.
I understood your proposal for the 30 minutes, but that would mean AZ was NEVER on the same time as EITHER Mountain or Pacific, which I daresay would be way more confusing. Seems to me there used to be a few counties in Indiana(?) that were 30 minutes off the surrounding ones... dont' know if that is still true or not.
Good thing it isn't 45 minutes off the hour like I believe it is in at least one area of the world.
Whatever, I'll stick with it staying the same year-round while those around us change.
