Re: 2014 World Cup
True enough. Maybe they were pre-resting for the next game. Winning against Belgium is going to be a really big ask for the US team.Bradshaws wrote:I want to cheer for USA for advancing but it is a little unsatisfying
But, who knows? They weren't supposed to be able to win a single game in this round...

Robben dove. He does that a lot. Actually told my wife as he was making that run to watch out for it ... [-X

Re: 2014 World Cup
Though I am rooting for the dutch here, I think that they were a bit lucky. Though Robben had been hacked about 6 times previously -- more legitimately -- with no call, so I do view it as a bit of karma, though the actual PK call was borderline.
That said, Mexico dominated them until they finally scored that first goal. From there forward it was a more even match.

He was clipped and theatrically exaggerated the fall! Close call but correct.

Re: 2014 World Cup
Agree, he was a superstar.
I really do think the rest of the team played well (not great) for 90 minutes (perhaps I shouldn't have said "very").
After Belgium scored the rest played much better. They looked exhausted but then found some energy.

Re: 2014 World Cup
No great sadness seeing France out today. And Brazil finally played the way I had expected they would. The first half was as entertaining as any so far.

Re: 2014 World Cup
In the first round of the World Cup you could get a yellow card for sneezing, but in the Brazil match today, the refs were going by schoolyard rules ;) "no blood, no foul"... And it was a great match.
I would like to see Brazil or Argentina go to the end but I think we'll be watching Germany and the Netherlands playing for the cup
