Washington Park Trailhead
Spent the day out at Washington Park Trailhead and noted it was day use only, not sure how long it has been posted as such. This was ideal for me in the past to set up a base camp and hike up to the Rim Top, The National Trail and to explore the area. For folks hiking the National Trail I wonder how it will affect their thru hike.

Re: Washington Park Trailhead
One could always "backpack" a few hundred feet beyond the road and camp, potentially skirting the new regulation. All Forest Service recreation sites along the East Verde River are now day use only, I believe. Perhaps it has something to do with protecting water quality.

Re: Washington Park Trailhead
This is the first summer where day-use only rule is in effect. As Preston says, a short backpack is all it takes ... though I believe officially you have to be at least 1/4 mile away.
The goal was to stop it from being trashed as a car-camping destination.

Thanks Dawn. I searched for that but couldn't find it. It's nice to have the map posted here.

Ok Grammar Police, what say you on this one:
"2. This Order will be affected by appropriate signs and closure notices as required by 36 CFR 261.50."
I'm thinking it should be "effected" but I don't want to start anything here . . .

@Sredfield
Just and awkward wording all together I think, but let me make this a teachable moment...generally affect will be used as a verb and effect as a noun...
Example: The wind affected the fire, it had a devastating effect.
Although I am sure Azbackpacker will challenge this and say I am wrong ;)

Re: Washington Park Trailhead
"Affect" is always a verb, whereas "effect" can be a noun or a verb. However, in the forms with "ed", "effected" is a strictly a verb whereas "affected" is considered an adjective, although it definitely sounds like a verb. In the sentence in question, "effected" is the proper usage, as Shawn suggested. Correct, most often we use "effect" in the verb form, but the verb form "effected" is essentially like saying "put into effect" (the intended usage above). Not something used all that often anymore.

Yup I knew someone would say I was wrong lol...however, like I said affect is "generally" used as a verb, this is the English language here very words that have concrete uses where one can apply the terms always and never...that's what makes the language an SOB for some to learn...see below example...well look at that affect can be used as a noun ;)Affect" is always a verb
.“Affect” as a noun. “Affect” as a noun means an emotional state as contrasted to a cognition. “Affect” is a dimension of behavior rather than a separate segment of it

Re: Washington Park Trailhead
In my defense, I made my previous post from looking up the words in question on multiple online dictionaries, all of which gave "affect" as a verb only. Wasn't doing it to prove you wrong, I did know of the verb form of effect before doing the research. The noun form of "affect" sounds like it's out of the glossary of a Psychology textbook.well look at that affect can be used as a noun ;)

Lol I got ya believe me you had me googling this morning as well I certainly don't think one will come across too many instances of noun form, except in maybe certain academic circles like you stated...I only joke cause everyone loves correcting me because I teach I think...my comment sections are evidence of that none of my mistakes go unnoticed
