AZGFD has closed the reservoir completely. The water level is too low for any boating use. There have been dangerous rockfalls, and maintenance is ongoing.
Due to the low water level and in order to provide for public safety, the Forest Service in cooperation with Arizona Game and Fish Department have closed access to the Blue Ridge Reservoir until further notice. Salt River Project had to draw the water down to low levels in order to conduct maintenance inspections. Game and Fish will continue improvements and stabilization of the rock walls this fall and possibly into early next spring. The water is so low that no boats can be launched and numerous rocks have fallen onto the boat ramp, thus creating a very dangerous situation. We are hoping for a good snow pack this winter so the Reservoir can get some run off this coming spring.
PLEASE NOTE! BLUE RIDGE RESERVOIR WILL OFFICIALLY BE CLOSED TOMORROW, AUGUST 22, 2014 AT 8:00 AM.
