North Mountain Brewing Company

Post by SpiderLegs »

Think I just found the new headquarters for all of us HAZ members that live in north central Phoenix. Just got word that the first batch of beer is done at North Mountain Brewery on Dunlap and that they are opening soon.

156th Ave. and Roosevelt. Exit the I-10 at Estrella Pkwy and make a right at the first light, you'll see it.

Total Wine is a wonderful place, though I do admit their growler stations are overrated and over priced. But they do help all my sommelier needs now as well.

And also if you didn't know, Freak'N Brewing opened up last month in Peoria. 93rd Ave. and Olive. ;)

@desert-boonie

Thanks!

For anyone traveling this weekend I know the people who own the Chevron stations in Cottonwood and the village of Oak Creek. They are big beer aficionados and have an impressive selection of craft beer for a gas station. In Cottonwood they even set up a growler station, which I believe is the only growler set up in a gas station in Arizona.

Nope... 4 Sons Chevron Gas Stations (One is at Pinnacle Peak, just West of 35th Ave), has them also

@The Eagle
I've been to the one on Pinnacle Peak. Funny Safeway on Broadway and Rural also fill growlers.

you've never heard of Ground Control?

btw, NMB has been making really good beers, they've improved. try the N.I.B imperial stout. it's right up there with old rasputin and ten fidy, imo.

Forgot all about Ground Control, they do have an impressive list of beers and a knowledgeable staff.

One of the times I went to NMB the server they sent over to my table wasn't 21. Could not answer a single beer related question and just pointed to the chalkboard where they list their beers. It was little things like that I couldn't get over. The service was hit or miss, sent a server that can't answer questions about beer at a brew pub and the quality of the beer was erratic. Remember one time everyone at my table trying to figure out what style the beer sent over really was. The IPA tasted like an amber, the Bitter tasted almost like an IPA, etc... Probably being too picky, but I do acknowledge my inner beer snob.

I thought one of us Hazards owns North Mountain? That's the only reason I posted. Wanted to let them know their ad worked. :)

Just so everyone knows, Saddle Mt. Brewery is now open. Not that anyone should need a reason to hike in the Estrellas, but this is the perfect recovery spot to go afterwards. Great people, great brews, great place. When a place opens up with a flyover from taildragger planes (yes it happened), you know they are awesome. Already towards the top of the list for local breweries, and I am not exaggerating.

Guess I need to head over there soon. My problem is that I'm done hiking or running too early and most places aren't open yet for a post-hike refreshment.
