backpacking during a bow hunt

Post by matthewkphx »

Well I am just fully depressed because I have been involved in planning two trips in September and I just found out that there is a two-week elk bowhunting season in the area at the same time. Should I be calling these trips off?

The first is a group hammock hang at Dane Springs. This is a car camping trip with a little bit of hiking.

The second is a BSA backpack trip up the Houston Bros trail.

Any thoughts?

Being a hunter and a hiker, I don't hunt on or off of hiking trails. Mostly game trails. Even if I do run across hikers, I usually keep quiet and still. Someone walking by my hunting area hardly ever ruins that area, as long as they don't stop and start a fire to make lunch. And how often does that happen? Not to mention, most responsible hunters will always know what and where they are shooting.

I took the road less traveled by,
