It's the Solstice!
On the 21st at 10:30 PM Mountain Time, or 22:30, or 5:30 AM UTC (December 22nd, officially), it will be the solstice. Get out there and enjoy it. ;)
Just in time, too, as I'm sick and tired of winter. What? You say there are 3 more months of it? Aaawwww!

Boo short days rock! That is what 3watt led headlamps were invented for. I like 10-12 hour work days and being done before dinner not 14 hour workdays.

Well, you're the only one that works "outside" and has to work longer in the longer days. I want the longer days! Then again, I work 12 hour days, and they are tiring no matter what time of year. Still flying can't be all that bad. You also like snow, and stuff, too. Speaking of that, is it falling in Colorado?

Why yes it is and I'm looking forward to making up for lost time when I get home. Everything has been dry up until this storm. Vail and Beaver Creek got 11 inches last night. I skipped riding in Wolf Creek last week because they only had an 18 inche base.

Re: It's the Solstice!
That is good, the precipitation analysis has shown below average totals for much of the west, outside of California and parts of Arizona, with these recent wet storms. High snow levels in CA, too. It is good, to get snow in places that need it, and I do not happen to live in.

I have three Degrees of Bacon via Carroll O'Connor (I briefly dated his niece in Flagstaff) and via Kristen Johnston (her older brother was my 6-year old playmate in Milwaukee) ...
Even more impressively :roll: the Carroll O'Connor connection gives me four degrees of the guy that got his brains bashed in the cornfield in "Casino". (The real life guy, Michael Spilotro, was a bit actor ...)

Re: It's the Solstice!
I was looking forward to it being lighter on my ride to work this morning, but it will be more than a month (Jan 25) before the sun rises earlier than it did yesterday. The solstice is a fraud.

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

@chumley
Really? That must have been pretty far west. There are definitely no shadows here today. We got 6-8" of new snow overnight, topped off with sleet and freezing rain this morning, and we're back to snow for the rest of the day. Boston must be getting pounded again. Unfortunately, this snow will be wrecked before I can ski on it. The surface will melt a bit and refreeze on Wednesday.
