FR78 - First Water Road
The Forest Service graded First Water Road today. So... if you own a low-rider and the ruts kept you away, now's your chance to take advantage of the smooth surface.

Thank you, thank you!

@Aka Tavy With the rain today and more expected tomorrow, it may need grading again real soon.

That may be a distant wish.... the scheduled grading for First Water Road is Once-a-year
It may be a tough drive for the next 11 months :tt:

On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.

Re: FR78 - First Water Road
Some people seem to delight in tearing up such roads in bad conditions. It's not just an AZ thing, unfortunately.SuperstitionGuy wrote:In other words folks, please stay off these roads until they dry out,,!!!

I don't delight in tearing up roads, but I do delight in hiking the Supes when it's wet.

Re: FR78 - First Water Road
They should just close the road altogether. It would keep all those groups of 15 away. ;)

Re: FR78 - First Water Road
With no drainage the huge flat horse staging lot was the muddiest part, and sorry if I disappointed you but I didn't get a flat. :whistle:SuperstitionGuy wrote:May you all get flat tires in the muddiest part of the road...
Further, by staying away from the soft spots I left no large ruts.
Being well graded including a nice crown, the road itself drains very well so mud isn't that big an issue.
But remember, we're lucky it's graded even once a year as it is designated a Primitive road and not maintained for passenger vehicles
