Spurs?
Yesterday when hiking up Turkey Creek Trail #34, I saw AZT signs on the trail, but when I look at the AZT website that trail is not part of the AZT. Is that some sort of spur? Are there other such spurs?

Ah, OK. Seems those should be removed.
Either way, why did they reroute? That area is pretty nice.

Re: Spurs?
Not 100% sure but I think it was connecting to the south from there and problems crossing Empire Ranch property so ATA went around the Ranch using Las Colinas, Las Cienegas and Rincon Valley passages. Thus creating a route further west than the original idea.Jim_H wrote:why did they reroute?

Re: Spurs?
In some cases old (interim) sections of the Arizona Trail were well-blazed by carsonite or wooden posts, which continue to serve as markers for those interested in hiking these areas. It would be a shame to lose them, particularly since they're typically well-removed from the current trail corridor so aren't causing any confusion. The adhesive stickers and so forth will continue to fade with time.
