Planned theme park for Williams

Post by azbackpackr »

A theme park is being planned for Williams as part of a plan to make Arizona a better tourist destination. Sigh... I just heard about this yesterday. So, I have lost my appetite and have a sick feeling in my stomach, after reading the article. The thing is, WHERE IS THE EFFING WATER GOING TO COME FROM FOR ALL THESE NEW PROJECTS?

You got it, folks. It'll be pumped right out of the same aquifer that supplies Grand Canyon's waterfalls, springs and seeps. They will just suck it dry until there is no more left.

Oh, and they will have 2,000 employees? I suppose they will build employee housing? Because right now there is nowhere to live, and if you can find a place you can't afford it on theme park wages, I'll tell you that much.

There may be more water in Williams than Anaheim, Carlsbad, Valencia, Buena Park, etc.

Haha! Well, this could just be another pie-in-the-sky scheme that won't happen. It's probably too early to get one's underwear in a bunch.

For a town with no place for people to live there sure are a lot of empty houses in and around Williams. They are overpriced, so the local wage earners can't afford them, I suspect. I was riding my bicycle all around today, including out into the big cow pasture where they want to put the amusement park.

I wish more people understood how much fun there is to be had in nature. That would mean less solitude, but only hypothetically, since this wish is so unlikely to come true.

This Williams park has been discussed (and even voted on by the Williams city council) for over 10 years. Cities get addicted to money and put their blinders on when they see a cash-cow like this, residents be damned.

Sweet! Maybe they'll build one of these down Bill Williams Mountain. I would be so there ;)

I have been down several versions of this that uses the concrete half-pipe instead of tracks - they are a hoot and seem SCREAMIN fast when you are on them, with your butt about 2" off the ground! https://youtu.be/yvERb0C1Pvs?t=121
