Need hiker for AZT passages 1,2, and 3
From Phoenix and planning to hike the first 3 sections of the AZT starting 9/26/15 or 10/3/15. I'll be leaving a vehicle in Patagonia and have a fellow hiker that can't do the trip, but will give us a ride from Patagonia to the trailhead at section 1. I only lack a fellow hiker. I'll do this hike alone if necessary, but it's always safer and to have someone with you. I'm just an average hiker, so I think this will be a 3 day hike. Let me know if you're interested.

Re: Need hiker for AZT passages 1,2, and 3
I'm interested as I'm hoping to finish up the AZT from Flagstaff north in Sept. and Oct., it would be nice to get the southern part done. I'm running low on vacation though so not sure if I'll be able to swing it but I'm definitely interested. I skipped the first three passages because my wife was and still is uncomfortable with me hiking alone in that area. My hope is to hike from Flagstaff to the South Rim around Labor Day weekend, so I'm interested in the 9/26 date.

I live at the southern terminus, but I'll be elsewhere during the time requested. You have next to nothing to worry about hiking down here, in fact you are more liable to meet more BP agents rather than anyone/thing dangerous. Just respect the wildlife, you may see some rattlesnakes. Every bear I've seen has run the other way. Same thing for big cats. I hike here a LOT (35 years), alone, and I just spoke yesterday with a BP agent in upper Ramsey Canyon by the AZT/Crest Trail and things are pretty quiet now, most of the activity currently is north of Douglas.
