Late October hikes in Flagstaff

Post by nicolelee »

Hi All,
I am visiting Flagstaff for a few days in late October. I'm looking for some moderate hikes between 3-5 miles. I am staying in the eastern part of town near Sunset Crater but I don't mind driving a bit to get somewhere. I'm pretty sure I will be missing out of fall colors which is a bummer but I'm still glad to get up into the high country! Thanks in advance :D

I like the Kachina trail in late October, you could turn around after a few miles. Hike from the Ski parking lot side.

Visit and hike some of the trails at Sunset Crater, some at night :D . O Leary Peak during the day and enjoy the views.

Elden Lookout is only 5 miles round trip and should be a moderate hike.

Even if you miss the fall colors, the bare aspens along the inner basin trail are still a treat to see. Only issue would be access to the TH if there is snow.
