I see that there is a comment on here from 2006 that says that Jackass Canyon trail is not passable. Does anyone have any more recent updates? I'm trying to take a friend from Scotland down there, but don't want to make the drive if we cannot hike it.
I assume you're referring to the short route down to the CO River in the Marble Canyon area? I was there about a year ago, had no issues, some fun scrambling.
I've been told you can get someone at Marble Canyon Lodge to shuttle you there and pick you up later when you call them. I haven't checked to verify this, however. But it will be preferable to leaving your vehicle there. Vehicles left there have been broken into in the past.
If you call MCL to ask about this, ask to speak to a manager because the front desk clerk likely will have no idea what you're talking about.

Used to go down there all the time as a youth in boy scouts. I've been a bit hesitant to go back, based on talk of cars being broken into. A shuttle service (if it exists) might be a nice option.
There are Shuttle Services available and Marble Canyon Lodge will know about them....
