Some roads according to the DV chat boards are still closed. If you are going that way this winter check before you plan. A lot of damage.
Incredible video at 3:05 min onward. I think this in the southern part and possibly near the Armagosa river. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KrVHp2be8J4

Re: Death Valley Flooding
Has the weather event allowed any insight into the behavior of the rocks in racetrack playa?

Re: Death Valley Flooding
Yeah, I happened to get to Death Valley on what was probably the next day*. Didn't get to see the Badwater area because the roads were closed, had to drive through a bit of mud & debris on the road to get to the campsite, and even got moderately rained on overnight. That's not what we expected at Death Valley!
On the bright side, even then, we were thinking that it should make for great DV wildflowers in the spring. With apparently even more since then, even more so. I blame/credit El Niño.
* Oops, I see in the video now that this was on the 18th, 12 days after we were there. Another similar video I looked at was from the 4th, we were there on the 5th & 6th. I guess they got more later, too.

Re: Death Valley Flooding
@KarMann
The First Storm had some Flash Flooding going on...The Storm the next Week gave them the 1000 Year Flood that really did some major Damage....
@nonot
It has to start Freezing there first, but I imagine this would be a good Winter to see movement if you Camped out long enough...It would be cool if someone did that and did some Timelapsing....

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"
