Moving to Casa Grande / Phoenix / Kayenta / Anywhere

Post by PaleoRob »

Well, I guess I'll have to change my screen name soon. My wife and I are going to be moving to Casa Grande before the end of the year. Listing the house for sale up in Page. No job yet, kinda scary, but my wife needs to go back to school full time. Even commuting to and from UofA, with the house prices in CG we'll save money over moving to El Pueblo. Big change - this will be my first time living off The Plateau since '99. Eeek!

River guide! Glen Canyon day trips, flat water, driving a motor raft. Not as sexy as Grand Canyon river guide, but it's something I CAN do. I have back problems and I'm over 60, so Grand Canyon river guiding is not in the cards for me. Also hoping to get in with a kayaking outfit on the lake.

I do not believe that Rob is going anywhere since he has not posted for over a year. :o

Rob moved some time ago, he just hasn't posted it here. He isn't really very active on HAZ these days.

The Original Post of the Thread now appears at the Top of each Page Alex, that's what got you confused....

It sure did. I've been thinking about Rob a lot lately, since I keep passing Page on the way to UT and Casa Grande traveling between work locations.

Well greetings from the man who started the thread. As I still keep in touch with many of you on Facebook I have heard rumors that my fate has been discussed here. The rumors of my death in the wilderness are greatly exaggerated.

After a bunch of huge life changes occurred in Casa Grande. Long story short I am working a museum in western Colorado now. I live in Grand Junction and am loving life, though I haven't done much outside yet. Soon!

@Outdoor Lover
I would love to but I fear my technical canyoneering skills are far too weak!

Not all Canyons are Technical....You know that....Brian does some Non-Tech stuff occasionally too....He's been up there awhile now, and I know he's been doing a Ton of Exploring up there....

It's good to hear from you. I hope life is good in Grand Junction. My perception of that town might be warped since I'm always coming off the trail when I pass through. Any comfort or convenience at all (such as electric lights and town food) make it seem pretty nice. The park down by the river is relaxing on a sunny day.

@Outdoor Lover
Yeah I know, but looking at his Facebook posts it seems like 90% of them involve ropework! I would like to get into some canyons again soon though.

Moving to Medford area of Oregon, at least to check it out for a while. I'm leaving here in a week. Since I live full-time in an RV, it won't be too difficult to change my mind if I don't like it. Looking forward to some biking and paddling, and hopefully hiking (although I will, at last, need to see a doctor about my ongoing foot pain.) I have bought a rack and panniers for the mountain bike, so I can do some multiday exploring on the bikeways and bike paths. I have two job interviews my first week of arrival. Hoping to post some trails to HAZ, and to fill in some of the "hikebot" trail listings.

It's scary, but exciting.

Liz, you still have to fill in some hike bot hikes for the Needles region hikes you did.

I really need to do a description for the Mopah Spring Palm Grove hike, for sure. It is something people would want to see. I have the info, GPS route, with a 4WD route to TH on GPS also.

That's an interesting choice. I like Oregon quite a bit, but I haven't spent much time that far south.
