Sitting on my back porch last evening, I glanced to the East (of Safford) and saw a group of 5 or 6 lights together in a crescent shape ... after a few seconds they blinked out one by one and didn't come back.
It was fairly early, maybe 8:30 pm, and the lights were not too high in the sky. First time I've seen something like that. Ideas?

Weird stuff in the sky east of Arizona has previously been attributed to missile launches from White Sands.
What you are describing sounds more like a satellite or other space debris burning up in the atmosphere. The junk breaks up into multiple pieces all traveling at the same speed together and burning up until they disappear. This kind of thing can appear to be moving quite quickly, or almost not at all, depending on height in the atmosphere, location, and angle you see it at.
There are probably websites out there dedicated to reports of sky stuff where others saw and reported the same thing you saw.

Could also be flares... have watched that this last easter at Alamo lake.. they had F16s flying around and saw them drop a bunch ..they practice shooting each other and all kinds of exercises like that..

I've seen fighters dog fight over Aravaipa Canyon dropping chaff, so flares would be logical.
