"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." — Henry David Thoreau
At the moment I like 'Take it All' by Pop Evil (as you're climbing), Mountain Song by Jane's Addiction (on the descent).
Also like Thunderstruck by AC/DC (hopefully not going to be while outside), Wherever I may Roam by Metallica..fitting for any hike.
When I'm trail running I like 80s, 90s and early 2000 R and B and HipHop.
P.S. I use truly wireless earbuds only in one ear when I am alone on a hike/trail run. I don't get to enjoy music a lot during the work week so weekends I try to combine my passions (music and trail running/hiking) when I can.

I seek peace and quiet, and sounds of nature. I enjoy bird sounds, the wind, coyotes howling, etc. The only place I like recorded music is in the car. While I'm driving to a hike, it's fine, but not on the hike. And I definitely don't want it in camp if I'm backpacking or car camping or on the river. Can't stand it, in fact.
And by the way, it's extremely rude to play any audible music when you are on the trail. People passing by you will not like it one bit. I realize most of you do the right thing and use ear buds, but some people haven't figured that out yet.
