Planning on going up to the White Mountains to do some fishing. Want to car camp . Anyone have experiences up in that way. Heading up there Easter Weekend. Our plan is Hawley lake but open to suggestions.

Re: Hawley Lake
It tends to still be very cold in April!
As of today, AZ-473 is still closed for the winter so getting to Hawley Lake isn't possible anyway. It's possible it will get cleared and opened in the next two weeks though.

If you haven't already done so, you should check out this link to the weekly fishing report on the state website.
Hawley is not specifically mentioned. There are plenty of other options at lower elevation and closer to the valley.
Depends really which trout you're after and what sort of tackle you intend to use.
Sleeper Alert! Amhurst lake (not in White mountains) ... if you want to eat fish for dinner, 6,000 stocked recently.
Becker lake for larger fish but catch and release artificial lure only...

You aren't late if you don't show up!
