Browns Peak alt routes

I've been wanting to hike hike Browns Peak for a while just haven't gotten to it yet. From the trail description it seems most take the Lone Pine TH. I was wondering if anyone has accomplished the trek to Browns peak from Oak Flat? I assume the most logical rout from that TH would be 123>130>133. Any opinions?

First two times I did it back in 1970 were from Oak Flat. Makes for a much more involved hike though. That was the route. So long ago I don't remember the details, but we did take an extended break at Shake Spring.

You can summit from Alder Saddle. You would also go in from Lone Pine. Its a bit of a bushwack but worth it if you're looking for an alternate route.

Good to know. I'm thinking I'd spend more time hiking than driving coming in that way. Id be coming from east Mesa by AJ so I'd drive 88>188>445. I am thinking that'd be faster than coming In from 60>202>87>143

FYI, as you are probably already aware, starting from Oak Flat will add another 2500 feet of elevation gain compared to starting the hike at Lone Pine.

With my Jeep I used to take the 87/143 (Four Peaks Rd) route to save the 40 miles (at only 12 mpg) over taking 87/188/143 (El Oso Rd) but now I'd much rather take the smoother drive up El Oso in the same amount of time.
Even in your case, I'd continue up 87 to 188 and down to FR 445.
(In fact, we took 88/188/FR429 to Mills TH from East Mesa last week rather than Apache Trail)

While I will agree from AJ that 88/188/445 is the shortest route. However, for most folks, between the long-and-winding road, slow-bird traffic, later the rough-and-dusty dirt road, following/meeting huge RV's on Fish Creek Hill... I think you get my drift.
