Free pizza promo results in SAR on Mt. Elden
Who do you blame, the hiker or the pizzeria owner?

I can't believe contests like this are even legal. I blame the Arizona Legislature for not writing laws to prevent businesses from promoting this kind of stupidity.

I've climbed Mt. Elden probably 20 times in the last couple of years. Where's my free 20 pizzas?

Love their pizza and Elden is certainly a favorite in Flag (just did it last weekend when it was too hot it Sedona).
From the article: ' The man was reportedly unware of the cold weather forecast at the time of the hike.' -- I know who I'm voting for.

Pizza isn't that expensive. I need a better goal to risk my life, like unexplored ruins.

They should just outlaw stupid people altogether. That way, they'd be outlawing themselves...chumley wrote:I can't believe contests like this are even legal. I blame the Arizona Legislature for not writing laws to prevent businesses from promoting this kind of stupidity.

Wait, if stupid people are getting elected to the legislature, doesn't that say something about the intelligence of the voters, too?azbackpackr wrote:They should just outlaw stupid people altogether. That way, they'd be outlawing themselves...

Yes. It's a scientific fact that there are more stupid people than smart ones.

Re: Free pizza promo results in SAR on Mt. Elden
I think the real story here is that there was a pretty decent late season snow on Mount Elden! 5 Inches this time of year is really good.
I understand The Peaks got a few more inches, too, with the Snowslide Canyon Snotel reporting over an inch of liquid equivalent, and so probably a pretty good snow accumulation just after Snowbowl's last weekend for the season.
Elden can be dry and relatively warm in a week, but when will the Peaks be hike-able by summer means? Not necessarily Humphrey, but what about Doyle? I want to hike high!!! I'll buy my slices at NiMarco's after, if I want pizza. Tomato and garlic!

I looked when passing through a couple weeks ago and the snow appeared pretty deep from a distance. I got my pizza the old-fashioned way.Jim_H wrote:but when will the Peaks be hike-able by summer means?
