Lately some AZ highways have been closed due to fires and sometimes accidents. You may want to take note of traffic conditions by visiting http://http://www.az511.gov/traffic or dialing 511 from any landline or mobile phone.

Users should note that not all roads in the state are controlled by ADOT, so closures on smaller roads will not be reflected on az511. Recent examples of hiker-relevant roads closed or restricted and not on reflected on az511 include the Rim Road (FR300), Houston Mesa Road and the Control Road north of Payson, Forest Highway 3 (Lake Mary Road between Clints Well and Flagstaff), and the Catalina Highway from Tucson to the top of Mount Lemmon, among others.

For Pima County Road conditions/closures, which includes the Mt. Lemmon Highway and Redington Road, you can call 520-547-7510. This is especially helpful in the winter to learn if the Mt. Lemmon/Catalina Highway is closed or restricted.
