Salt River canoe or kayak
Anyone interested in kayaking or canoeing the lower Salt? A group of people from work are making a run after work on Friday (7/25). We are going to put in at Water Users and pull out at Sheep Crossing. If you're interested we are meeting at Sheep Crossing at 4:30pm on Friday. This section of the river takes about 2 hours to run. Fire away if you have any questions.

We usually just leave a few vehicles at the take out point and then run people back up to get the vehicles we left at the put in.
Water Users is just below the dam and down river a bit (maybe 1o minutes up the road from sheep crossing). If you look up salt river recreation, (the tubing place) they have a pretty good map.
Water flow has been about 500cfs. We've run it below 300cfs, so there is plenty of water.

We’ll be kayaking/canoeing the Salt River From Phon D Sutton to Granite Reef this Friday (8/1/03). We’ll be meeting at Granite Reef at 4:30pm. Anyone interested or any questions, post here or PM me.
This is a tame section of the river, good for first timers. There is one hairy spot at the beginning, you can either get your feet wet fast (if you’re brave!), or put your boat in after it.

OK
Hey, I'm from TN, and have been looking for a good river to canoe. My canoe can't handle anything too intense, but if its a mild river, I'm in. Also, where is this Phon D Sutton drop-in in relation to Phoenix(North Phoenix?)

It is a very mild river. We are meeting at Granite Reef, Phone D Sutton is right up the road from there. To get there, head east to Power Rd on your route of choice (probably the 202 to Higley then McDowell to Power). Head North on Power Road a couple of miles and it turns into the Bush Hwy. You will come down a big hill and turn to the right, at the bottom of the hill as you are turning right, Granite Reef will be on your left.

No canoe/kayak trip this week. SRP shut the rivers down! They are running low on water.
Conserve water, shower with a friend!
Seriously, it's amazing how many morons in my neighborhood water their grass so heavily that the water rolls down the sidewalk into the street, and all the way down the street. DON'T BE THAT GUY!

I have that in my neighborhood too. The curbs look like little rivers!
I see the ads on tv for conserving 5% of your normal usage, but personally I think they should be more specific. If someone is using 150%, that's 145%, doesn't do any good.
Not only does it affect the water usage but the water pressure. My city issued a notice to conserve for both reasons. Hope people listen.

Don't be a water monger.
I think we should dig an aqueduct from the Mississippi River to the Salt River so we could canoe...

Hey there... Ever canoed in the Ozarks? Jack Fork, I'm thinking of in specific. I grew up in Kentucky. PM me sometime, I bet we've been to some of the same places!Forget LA 76 wrote:Hey, I'm from TN, and have been looking for a good river to canoe.
