Hiking / HAZ Haiku

Post by olesma »

hai·ku ( P ) Pronunciation (hi koo)
n. pl. haiku, also hai·kus
def: A Japanese lyric verse form having three unrhymed lines of five, seven, and five syllables, traditionally invoking an aspect of nature or the seasons.

Inspired by a recent e-mail - I think this would be an excellent topic for this crowd, and a great little bit of entertainment during the summer months.

Submit your Haiku - perhaps we'll even have a contest for the best submission in several categories.

RIBBIT

Moon glow climbs the dark
Shimmering light far below
Frog king croaks command.

Cross the dark ridgeline,
Monsoon lightning rips nearby,
Heart pounding, run fast!

Rattlesnake sitting
still, on the trail he watches.
Be cool my brother.

Huge flower crowds
Smiling at the summer sun,
Sharing life with joy.

This is pretty fun.
I haven't written for years,
Good topic my friend. :)

Now that is probably the best single line of haiku I've ever seen.

However, for all you writers out there - I suggest you take a look at the Holy Tango of Poetry. Be sure to check out volume 4 for the haiku.
