After several hikes wearing the new HAZ hat, I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars.
First and foremost, it makes quality shade.
Its amazingly lightweight and compactable.
Value priced.
Surprisingly comfortable, even with the all-plastic construction and lack of an inside hat band.
It won't get sweat-stained and scuzzy like a fabric hat. If sweat is an issue, a lightweight wicking headband can be worn under the hat.
The only negative so far: you probably won't get nominated for any fashion awards while wearing it.

I was going to suggest that it is best worn by people firmly entrenched in committed relationships with somebody who has long-since lost their clarity of vision or given up on any kind of attempt at physical attraction.toddak wrote:you probably won't get nominated for any fashion awards

But that's just me. Opinions may vary.

yeah, there's sexier hats out there. but they're $45
i think i'll let this hot CoverSquirrel body speak for itself.. she won't even notice the hat.
got 1 for each glove box, just in case. besides, in "cowboy mode" the hat holds a taco on each side. winning!

that's how I know my marriage is still rock solid after nearly 30 years - she's seen me in this hat and STILL loves me!chumley wrote:I was going to suggest that it is best worn by people firmly entrenched in committed relationships with somebody who has long-since lost their clarity of vision or given up on any kind of attempt at physical attraction.

Re: The new HAZ hat review - Get one!
Though I am somewhat self-conscious about my attire, hat included; I really like this hat. I love the way it folds up and I can stick it in my waist pack. However, the Flying Nun feel definitely comes into play but other than that, I think I like it.
I do wonder how it will work with my overnite pack as it has quite a range so to speak. I should order another for my city hikes too and like Te Wa said, one for Tonto Jr (not to wear but put in the glove compartment).

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

@toddak - thanks for the pics. I just bought 2, partly based on the pics you shared, and partly because my hubby loves my old face no matter what, so I don't care what I look like.
