For my Innovation class at ASU, I created a survey to collect information about what is or is not important to tent/shelter users. please take the survey tonight if you have a spare ~8 minutes.

Ugh, I stopped after a few questions. Sorry but it was just too painful to figure out what the questions were.

Re: help with homework assignment
okay, I updated it, hopefully it flows a little better now.
Re: help with homework assignment
I gave up on it too. Here's why...
"If a product delivered this benefit "Reduces the amount of water that enters the tent because of the higher water resistance of this tent material", how valuable would that be to you?"
Okay, that's fine. But the next question is:
"Why would this be of value to you?"
The answer to this is obvious. It's not going to be, "Keeps mosquitoes out." Nor, "It's made of an insulating material, so I won't be as cold at night." No, the answer is, "I'm less likely to be wet." (Or some other obvious variation.)
At least one of the earlier questions was that way too.

The follow up questions seem like they'll have obvious answers ya know. But finished the survey for you.

Re: help with homework assignment
Instead of 'leading the witness' with predefined questions/conclusions, I'd recommend something more like:
- Provide a list of factors (lightweight, waterproof, ventilation, resistance to wear, quick set-up, maybe even factors like reviews, brand name, etc.)
- Ask each respondent to rank the factors in order of importance
- Ask why each factor is important or not.
- Possibly even ask why each factor is ranked higher than another.
(Example: Cost may be important, but is it more important than light weight? To some folks, light weight is ideal & cost-is-no-object, whereas for folks on limited budgets the opposite is true.)
In the end, it's not about the advertisements, sales pitches, glowing catch-phrases or anything like that, it is how well it works in practice!

awesome feedback everyone. It turns out that writing a good survey is way harder than it sounds. i am getting some good data but I can see where this can be improved. I'll close the survey now and revamp it the next chance i get. Thank you all for your participation and feedback!
Re: help with homework assignment
i'll post the results once I compile everything.
