Horton Creek Trail

Post by hikngrl »

If any one remembers reading the "perfect hike" thread you may remeber my input being that water is what makes the perfect hike for me. When you have water your have green and a multitude of other colors....

Hikeringilbert and I did Horton Creek yesterday and it has lots of cool clear water and it was absolutly beautiful! . There were times when I swear we could have been in the tropics (instead of the dead of summer in AZ) because it was so bright and green and lush. I will do this one again any time any one wants to go.

There was a some elevation gain which made it a bit of work and there were sections of the trail with lots of loose rock but it was all well worth it. There was an area where there was a big stack of large rocks. Some could have even classified as boulders and Tom and I wondered how in the heck they could have gotten there the way they were??? At the end of the trail you got to see the spring where the water originated coming out of the ground behind some huge moss covered boulders... Oh the colors!

My words can not do this one justice. You have to see it for your self!

I hiked it on friday and had a great time. I came back and tried to describe it to my wife and in-laws and they insist that we all go back and hike it again on Saturday. (My wife is 5 months pregnant and insists that she can at least make it part way) This time I'm thinking of going in the back way from the fish hatchery on the Highline Trail.
