Hiking vehicles
What kind of vehicles do you guys all drive when your going hiking? Im thinking about investing in a 4wd high clearance Jeep or something of the sort so I could get to some places where I definitely couldnt get to with what Im driving now (73 mustang):) I saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee today for $2600 and I was thinking about checking it out. What "hiking vehicle" is easiest to drive and which gets the best gas mileage (even though I know most wouldnt be too fuel efficient.)

Re: Hiking vehicles
That is definitely a good point. A Tacoma or 4Runner with the TRD package seems to come with some decent off-road tires
I thought about upgrading the tires on my F-150, but it would still be a 2WD, which is why I am looking for something else

Re: Hiking vehicles
@DixieFlyer I’ve been toying around with the idea of getting a new 4Runner soon. But I am extremely bitter at the moment that the Tacomas have the ‘cement’ paint color available right now, but the 4Runners do not. I really really want that color on a 4Runner.
Stop crying and just go do the hike.

Seems like a worthwhile subject to cause personal consternation. Maybe start a change.org petition?LindaAnn wrote: I am extremely bitter at the moment that the Tacomas have the ‘cement’ paint color available right now, but the 4Runners do not

Re: Hiking vehicles
@chumley Or, if the color isn’t available when I buy another 4Runner, I can just get it repainted right away. Seems a lot easier.

Re: Hiking vehicles
@DixieFlyer I’m strictly black or grey vehicles. But the peal is pretty. I think @friendofthundergod ‘s 4Runner is the pearl white, or blizzard pearl, whatever it’s called. I feel like I should remember that better since I practically picked that one out for him.

Re: Hiking vehicles
There are only 8 colors.
Peach is a fruit. Rose is a flower. Pearl is mollusk poo (ok, not actually, but you get the point).

Re: Hiking vehicles
@SuperstitionGuy He just knows that I am very specific about colors, and that one well-worded comment on his part will be enough to send me off onto a rant.
Like the time he told me my black shirt didn’t match my black pants.
Or the time I repainted all the walls in my backyard light grey, and he said they looked the same as before and he didn’t see a difference. The walls were pink & yellow before I repainted them!
And so on...

Re: Hiking vehicles
@chumley It is simple—I’ll buy the exact model of 4Runner that I want, and if I don’t like the color, I’ll immediately get it repainted the exact color that I want. Nothing complicated about that.

If you get it wrapped instead of repainting you can always go back pretty easily.

Re: Hiking vehicles
I saw a cement colored RAV4 today. If you want a cement SUV, a good solution would be to trade your 4Runner in on a RAV4. What could be simpler and easier than that?

Re: Hiking vehicles
@DixieFlyer Not a chance!
4Runner is as small as I’ll go. I’m thinking I’ll likely trade in the current 4Runner in for a new one right around 90,000 miles. That’ll be next year sometime.

Stop crying and just go do the hike.

Re: Hiking vehicles
@LindaAnn
I was just joking...there is quite a bit of difference between a 4Runner and a RAV4
speaking of colors, I saw one of these at a Toyota dealer today: https://www.google.com/search?q=army+gr ... eRfvFFwp5M:
I think people will either love this color or will hate it

All this color talk....
The right color for a hiking vehicle is "dirty".
