Saguaro National Park Moves Wilderness Camping Permits to Recreation.gov and Announces Fee increase

Post by hikeaz »

Visitors to Saguaro National Park will notice some changes in January.
First, Saguaro National Park is changing the way the park manages overnight camping permits in the Rincon Mountain Wilderness. Starting today, campers will go to Recreation.gov to reserve their camping permits for trips starting on February 1 or later. The visitor center will not issue permits in person after January 31. Permit reservations are taken 2 months in advance of the permitted start of a trip.
Saguaro National Park will modify its entrance fees to provide additional funding for commissions to recreation.gov, infrastructure and maintenance needs to enhance the visitor experience.
Effective January 1, 2020 entrance fees to the park will be $25 per vehicle, $20 per motorcycle, $15 for individual pedestrian or bicycle, and an annual park pass will cost $45.

Do they honor the normal Annual Park Pass? I would hope so. I know the Arizona State Park System does not honor their own Annual Pass at most of the Colorado River Parks. Pretty sad.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"

The ASP "Standard" Annual Pass ($75) is not good at the Colorado River Parks, Patagonia Lake, or Slide Rock on Summer weekends and holidays ... it is honored at those parks all other times. People who want to visit those parks during peak summer weekends and holidays can buy the "Premium" pass instead ($200) and get in every park every day.

The America the Beautiful Pass covers all national parks, monuments, and battlefields.
