Cell Phone, Hawes Trail System [ Found ]
I found a phone yesterday evening on the Hawes trail system. Email me at Xiled1@yahoo.com with a description of the phone and the picture on the screen. We can set up a time to meet. Alternately you can try calling it, its got about 45% and I was able to take it out of Airplane mode. Otherwise it is locked. I do not have a charger for this type of phone,so it may be dead before the end of the day.
If someone can cross post to Mountain Biking sites that would be appreciated. That area is frequently used by bikers.

@Xiled1
If it's an iphone, hold down the home button to activate siri, and ask "who does this phone belong to?" If set up properly, the contact information will show up on the home screen. I don't know if Android phones have the same feature or not.

Unfortunately the emergency contact info is not filled out. It only says 'Mike'

Got a call asking for 'Michael Horn' in case anyone knows him. Probably should have asked the caller more, but it was a business type call and thats none of my business.

@DixieFlyer No, but I got a Nancy Drew detective certificate when I was about 10. Just kidding. It was easy to find them on instagram.

Re: Cell Phone, Hawes Trail System [ Found ]
A week ago I found a Samsung J3 Orbit way off-trail in the Hawes area as well.
The battery was dead (not unexpected I've since read reviews saying they don't last a day) so I charged it enough to try to determine whose it was. No security so I got to phone settings for the phone number it had been assigned to and called the number. It was a Verizon number which responded by saying either of three things, the first I simply don't recall, the second said the number had been changed, or the final possibility it has been disconnected.
So I called Verizon and gave them the number to see if they could tell me who owned it (or have THEM contact the owner) but was told it had been disconnected and as a pre-paid (burner?) phone they had no information on the owner.
While trying to ascertain more of the owners possible information from the phone itself, as I was following instructions by the Verizon rep the phone rebooted and is now set to factory settings, which means the only way to get back in is to log into Google with the original users email and password... so of course it is now a door stop.
That's when I found out it was only a $40 phone... I didn't realize Smartphones could be that cheap.

@LindaAnn
How DARE you solve an issue using the internet. You're not qualified to use the internet in that way.
Did you get permission to from the google ninjas prior to accessing their precious internet? I can't believe you did such a thing Linda. Please try to be thoughtful, careful, considerate and so on in the future.
