Prescott 1-2 night recommendations

Post by bakerag »

We just moved to Prescott from Phoenix and are in love with our new short drives to hikes! I was hoping I could get some suggestions on fairly short 1-2 night trips in the area. There are so many trails, it's hard to zero in on those that would have good camping opportunities and reliable water, without being at a campground.

@bakerag
When it gets cooler, maybe look into Apache Creek Wilderness, you also have some options for a long rugged drive into Sycamore Canyon Wilderness from Chino...

@friendofThundergod
Thanks, I think I can see sycamore canyon from my patio, so I will definitely check that out. I had Apache Creek in my wish list but I couldn't remember why, I was thinking, maybe for fishing? I will give it a shot!

@JoelHazelton
Thanks, looks like a neat area that I might have ignored otherwise

West Clear Creek is another good option since there is perennial water and lots of vegetation. Just keep an eye on the weather forecast, there's some flash flood danger there...
