That's the Rolls Fire, the result of a lightning strike around 8 pm August 18.
I wondered where all the smoke came from when I went out hiking in the Hawes area yesterday morning... I could only make out the outline of Red Mountain, which cleared a bit when the wind picked up.

I think a more efficient system for tracking these fires could be the FS just tells us the handful of places that are not burning vs trying to track all the areas that are on fire...

There are homes in those mountains, the fire will be out by the afternoon.

I thought this was a weather thread, not the fire thread? It rained for 2 hours straight out here in Doney Park just north of Flagstaff, yesterday. A bit of lightning, and the power went out for a little while.

We had a rogue break off cloud that wandered over to our neighborhood last night. Dumped an inch of rain on us, while two miles away they only received a third of that. Was watching the monsoon radar for Tucson and weird to watch one lone tiny super cell float over and hang out over my area for an hour.
