Reavis Ranch harvest?

Anyone made the trip out to Reavis Ranch this fall, yet? Curious if the apples have come in yet, or whether they will at all this year.

No one has reported on Reavis Ranch since January according to the North and South trails.
October is the month the apples will be good enough to eat and there is a crop every two out of three years.
What happens is there is a heavy freeze that will kill the blossoms in the spring or a draught that produces little or no apples.
The orchard was originally irrigated by a canal from the creek which now is history and there needs to be heavy rainfall to produce a crop. In the past horseman would pack in store bought apples when they rode in to do their Dutch Oven baked apples. If their were no apples on the trees they still had their contests as to who baked the best dish's. You would find the store bought apples still in their plastic bags left in the Ranch House when there was a good crop on the tree's.

Thanks for the response. I saw nobody had posted but was curious if anyone had just neglected to write up a trip report. Sounds like I should give it a few weeks.

I was out there on 6/20 and I don't remember seeing much development on the one Apple tree it stopped by for a few minutes.

What about the Sierra Ancha apples?

Well I never heard of Sierra Ancha apples growing at Reavis Ranch Jim.

Yeah, I wonder if it is worth a trip to the Ancha for apples this year. My expectation is that the crop will be subpar, but I could be surprised. Clearly, with the last 2 years in the Superstitions, Reavis isn't going to be worth it for those who go there.

Now, the Indian Garden orchards that sell Cox Orange Pippins, up in Oak Canyon. They didn't have any last year, just over priced worthless common apples. I'm not even sure they were grown in their orchard.

What was the condition of Forest Road 172 when you were out there 6/20?
I posted a YouTube video of the full drive up FR 172 back in 2017 and now I've got a guy coming from Texas in two weeks asking me whether a new Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4x4 will have any issues driving up there.
If Jeep says the Compass Trailhawk can go almost anywhere I figure if the road is dry and no wash-outs it should be ok, but without current info I'm unable to offer anything more definitive.

I think I'd be more inclined to take an old Jeep Compass up that road than a new one

Nonetheless, from what I can remember it was in worse condition than when I last traveled on that road, maybe 6 months prior. The thought I had was that I was glad for the 4WD high that I switched on in my reasonably higher clearance Dodge Ram 1500. It wasn't horrible, but the last little bit to the Roger's Trough TH was borderline bad and there were a couple of rough spots otherwise.

He'll make it to the TH in one piece but the possibility of damage to axles, manifolds, driveline, etc should not be underestimated.

BiFrost reported that there is apples this year at Reavis Ranch although not a bumper crop, they are ready for picking.
