Arizona Expansion of Kartchner Caverns

Post by glenntm »

FYI....Thought this would be good to share.

Arizona State Parks is pleased to announce the Big Room Grand Opening
at Kartchner Caverns State Park! We kicked off the announcement last
Friday with the Friends of Kartchner Caverns and the Arizona
Diamondback Charities. I'm including the full press release below. On
our website, we also include a Frequently Asked Questions sheet and
some general park information (go to
http://www.azstateparks.com/Parks/parkh ... _info.html).

The Big Room is another portion of Kartchner Caverns that will offer
visitors an opportunity to take a guided cave tour, see spectacular and
colorful formations, stand where the discoverers first entered the
cave, and learn about cave inhabitants, both ancient and living. This
will be a separate cave tour than the one the park currently offers,
the Rotunda/Throne Room Tour, and the cave formations are very
different and even more colorful. So even if you've already been on the
current cave tour, this one shouldn't be missed!

$150.00 per person. Ouch. I wish I could do this but my budget is going to so many other things now.

In response to DoFear's reply:

That 150.00 price is only for a fund raiser on first 2 days it opens.

Normal ticket prices for the Big Room Tours are $12.95 for kids age 7-13 and $22.95 for adults. The Rotunda/Throne Room tour will be $9.95 for kids age 7-13 and $18.95 for adults. There is no entrance fee for individuals with reservations made after August 8, 2003. Children under six-years-old will still be allowed on Rotunda/Throne Room tours, but will not be admitted on Big Room tours.
