@skillpore
I was going to say something snarky about the one tenth of an inch prediction until it dawned on me that a tenth of an inch would be biblical compared to zero.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Today we got the first sticking snow of the season in NJ. It's only been an inch so far, and we had a bigger snowfall in mid-October, but this one will last on the ground for a few days.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Looks like my post over the weekend worked. A prediction of no rain for weeks ended up guaranteeing rain. Ha!
Actually, what are the odds? Either way, this is yet another year where a warm moist system comes over AZ and NM not from the west or NW and California, but the SW, and up from Mexico.
Totals look to be about 1/2 an inch over the Estralla Mts, or at least the northern half, and well over 1/2 over most of South Mountain! How long until the Bursera leaf out?

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
With .01" of rain today, Yuma has ended a streak of 242 days without measurable rainfall.

@chumley
I so wanted to go play in the mud this morning. Figured it would rain as soon as I started working again.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Wow, that's an incredible dry spell! I experienced a couple summer rainstorms in Yuma over the years. It's hard to imagine them missing those badly needed precipitation events.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
I saw slightly more on the radar last evening, and east of Yuma on the Barry Goldwater Range. Looked like the Cabeza Mountains may have had 1 to 2/10ths. Not sure if that will green up any Elephant Trees. With the heavy rain and impressive totals here, I am thinking Elephant Trees in the Estrella and on South Mountain will green up soon.
Hopefully by the weekend if I try for Montezuma Sleeping! I didn't want to deal with Rainbow Valley extreme dust, but now with the precip, it might not be so bad. Got to get it while the getting is good!

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Almost an inch in the west valley by Luke AFB today. Best storm since March. Jim, I think you will probably have to wait at least a week or two on the Bursera to leaf out, they are not as quick as Ocotillos.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
@Jim_H The granddaddy of them all in Pima Canyon looks great as of today. I don’t think the rain played much of a factor.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
I had 0.6" of rain today, which was the first measurable rainfall here since the 0.3" that I had on April 13. I am now up to 6.4" of rain YTD

@chumley
Was it leaved out? All the ones I have seen in the south western part of the park have been leafless due to the dry summer and fall.
