Moving to Casa Grande / Phoenix / Kayenta / Anywhere
Well, I guess I'll have to change my screen name soon. My wife and I are going to be moving to Casa Grande before the end of the year. Listing the house for sale up in Page. No job yet, kinda scary, but my wife needs to go back to school full time. Even commuting to and from UofA, with the house prices in CG we'll save money over moving to El Pueblo. Big change - this will be my first time living off The Plateau since '99. Eeek!

At first I thought that must be a horrible plac to break down, but that area must have really good services for disabled trucks. Still, it would be depressing to be stuck in Bakersfield waiting for life to improve.azbackpackr wrote: it broke down on the way, near Bakersfield

Actually all I need is water and electricity. I've done that before, had to drive once a week to the RV dump station. But I love my RV site in Needless.

Re: Moving to Casa Grande / Phoenix / Kayenta / Anywhere
I'm leaving Flagstaff tomorrow, heading for the Lower Colorado River, but not to Needles this year. My early "cool season" digs will be on the riverbank, a few miles south of Blythe, until sometime in Dec. It's only a couple of hours from Phoenix. If anyone wants to drive over and go kayaking with me I'd welcome the company. I even have a loaner boat, an inflatable. I also plan to get myself over to the Kofa for a bit of exploring while I'm in the area.
In Dec. I'm relocating to Tucson for 3 months, going to do some actual hiking! Imagine that! In March, if all my baby duckies line up, I'm moving to Moab for 7 months.
There are some good riverside tent campgrounds near Palo Verde CA. On the CA side there's BLM's Oxbow Campground, and across the river there's a free campground called Hippie Hole, which has been upgraded nicely with restrooms, etc. The BLM even put up a sign that says "Hippie Hole," believe it or not! It has a big sandy beach, and is very close to Cibola wildlife refuge. A classic one-lane wooden bridge connects Oxbow area with Cibola. The RV park where I'll be staying has a tent area, plus there is some disbursed camping along the levee roads up and down the river on both sides.

That's an interesting area. I discovered it wandering around when I had a day off at Yuma.azbackpackr wrote:There are some good riverside tent campgrounds near Palo Verde CA. It is, but to be clear, it's not super close. From Yuma it's about 70 miles to Palo Verde, CA, and Cibola NWR.

I'm working on getting a seasonal job there. I do like to switch jobs every 2 or 3 years.

True, but it goes fast when you haven't had a day off in three weeks.azbackpackr wrote: ↑Sep 28 2020 7:07 am @big_load

If you ask me, almost any place in Utah for summer is far better than Flagstaff, again. Plus, abundant peaches and apricots in Capitol Reef.

Marana - the most gerrymandered city limits I've ever seen. Almost impressive how they did it.
