This is unquestionably the most entertaining news story I've read since opening this post. Definitely a heartless soul! :sweat:

Doesn't the biker going uphill, like a hiker have the right of way? Also our son just moved back after living up there for years. He mountain biked and dirt biked quit a bit and he always talked about all the wet roots from hell, which would then throw you into the thorny blackberry bushes from hell. After hiking up there myself those trails are all like our urban trails here, no matter how far you drive and they are full of all the male/female Karens in the world yelling get off my trail! It seems years of legal pot has not had the desired effect.

I suppose that a biker going uphill has the right-of-way with a biker going downhill...but bikers yield to hikers, and hikers yield to horses

I yield to bikes going uphill cuz it's easier for me to stop and start than them. I also display my machete, just in case.

We experienced a year of long-term stress from a threat that we cannot see, smell, or detect in anyway. This has caused society to be on guard for the majority of our days, along with unemployment, a divided gov't, and no timeline when the pandemic would end. There's a neurological reason why people will become irascible and uncivil. Anger is one tool that we use to regain control. In 2020, traffic accidents were up by 24% even tho traffic was down significantly. I expect to see more stories like this, but I hope I'm wrong.

That's likely so. Except for the neighbors out for a walk, I haven't had enough to exposure to people not on a screen to get a sense of how likely I am to be stabbed anywhere outside my home, where I figure the risk is greatest.

By the way, that reminds me that apart from Cousin G, Alston is the only person on HAZ who has met my wife.

@Pivo
Generally, unless otherwise stated, hikers have the right of way vs bikers.
Proper trail etiquette between hikers is to allow the hiker moving uphill to have the right of way.

As a practical matter, I yield to bikers because they are heavier & moving faster than me. I'd be the one most damaged if hit by a biker. Kind of like a car vs a truck when driving. All things considered, the car & passengers will experience more damage because the truck is far heavier.

I have thought about & considered pushing a stout stick into the spokes of the passing biker's front tire which would lock up his front wheel sending the biker sprawling, BIG TIME. I've also thought about simply grabbing the handlebar as the biker passes. Yes, I've thought about both, but never carried out the act.

Is the difference between stab and stabbing a criteria?

NO! Besides, trying to stab someone going past on a bike would definitely have to be pre-meditated.

I noticed he "considered pushing a stout stick into the spokes of the passing biker's front tire" not stabbing the stick into the spokes. I would have to go with assailant's choice on this.
