Trail and water in Walnut canyon off of AZT near Gila River

Hi, Im thinking of doing a hike from the Florence/Kelvin bridge AZT along the Gila . Ive read on guthook that hiking up
Walnut canyon to what was (is ?) and artesian spring is a more scenic / water full route. However I cant find any postings
of hikes in this canyon. On the map there appears to be a jeep trail up the canyon, perhaps that is the route ? If so
do you know of water sources along the way including the artesian well activity ? The last time I was there I
was able to drive with a mile of the well but apparently that car route has been closed. Thanks for any info ! Rob
