Arizona Canal

Post by Nighthiker »

Heading back to Payson today and noted about a half dozen bicyclist riding along the Arizona Canal on the Salt River Indian Community. Wondering where they started and ended.

@Nighthiker
It's part of the Maricopa Trail where you saw them.
Although they may have started somewhere west of 87, it's very likely they rode along the CAP canal on the Maricopa Trail from Bush Highway near/from the Granite Reef Recreation Area or the Bush Highway Trailhead at Bush Highway/Granite Reef Dam Road.
I've ridden it once and once was enough... pretty boring. :M2C:

So you can park on the South side of the Salt River and cross over to the North Side ?

@Nighthiker
Yup.
Here's the GPS track of the Maricopa Trail from Granite Reef Recreation Area (along Bush Highway) to AZ 87 Beeline Highway

More fun on a gravel bike...

How's that?
Whether riding a gravel bike, mountain bike or any other means of travel I wouldn't think it would change the scenery.

(BTW, part of the "scenery" I witnessed was a dead dog a few hundred yards from the Beeline.)
