Gas shortage

Post by nessanails »

For the city folks..........
I was just wondering how long did everyone wait in line for gas and did you really need it now? How much did you pay?
Me?...30 min. $2.15 :x , and I could have waited a couple of days, But just like everyone else in the lines,I didn't want to take the chance. :?

Ya know, I was out on my scooter last night and couldn't believe the noxious fumes in the air. I'm really surprised that we haven't had a big brown cloud over the area since last weekend.

I don't know what sucks more... having to deal with the lines, or riding the scooter in a giant fart.

the brown cloud will be getting worse soon. We arrnt getting our phx mix now, were going to get the reg. gas which is worse for phx. They shut down the west pipe now. Incase you havent heard, a dirt truck crashed on it, so they shut it down for safty reasons. It's "not suppose to affect us"tho. :pois: :gun:

This little incident has pushed me into the bus-to-work crowd, and I LOVE IT! They just started an express bus from a lot about 7 miles from my house to a bus stop right at my building downtown. I ride it for about 15 miles. Prior to this "Rapid" bus, it would have taken over an hour, now its less than 30 minutes. I'm hooked.

I got raped today at the pump. $2.59/gallon for regular unleaded!! There was no wait though.

I heard that part of the problem was the panic about a shortage. We only lost 1/3 of the gas coming in but we bought three times the amount of gas on Sunday than is usually bought. Interesting how that worked. These news people have to think before they report like this.

Brown Cloud

Post by Randy »

The jury is still out on whether the Phoenix blend really does reduce pollutants. Purely hypothetical. Any gains are obviously far outweighed by the damage done by all the cars idling in line at the gas stations for hours on end.....

Of course Detroit got waivers on fuel standards and drivers hours just from the brownout. We could have asked for them two weeks ago but noooooo. Janet could also have send out all the National Guard tankers to stand in line at the tank farms too. Construction crews are having layoffs as they can't drive their materials and crews to jobsites. Convenience marts are laying off as well, as no one is coming in if they don't have gas....

Olesma, you've got it rough, with rattlesnakes and cholla; but I go 40 miles one way and I hafta drive thru the golf carts in Sun City to get there. At least Hoolie drives his Bimmer fast enough to stay ahead of me. -R

I've seen a lot of studies that showed our "special gas" burned no cleaner then any other gas. I've yet to see a study that shows it does burn cleaner. I also haven't seen any studies showing how much cleaner our air is since we switched. I think the oil companies have their hands in the EPAs pocket. Our "special gas" costs more then the standard and the oil companies make more money off it.

Oh yeah, this morning (5:30am) on my way to work, most stations had gas and there was no wait. Every other day this week, most were closed and lines were 10-20 cars deep.

It's not the gas at all, I don't care if you burn air in a'78 Toyota Corolla or some of these other beaters you see around, they won't burn clean no matter what they run off of.....no offense to you diesel owners but just try riding a motorcycle behind a diesel sometime when they take off from a dead start.......I have seen plumes of smoke coming from gas burners also that didn't have any valves left in their car.....
I think they should give EVERYBODY a new car that burns clean so we don't have to put up with this anymore.......yup....they should....

I had fun last night. Saw a station with two lines of 10+ cars waiting to get in and the gas was $2.39/gal.

Just over 1/4 mile away was another station with no wait and selling for $1.99/gal.

Guess which one I chose.

People aren't very intelligent sometimes.

And, in case anyone is interested, I have found that the further east you go, the worse the problem is. Lots of stations out east with plenty of gas at reasonable prices. Just don't look for them on the primary intersections - those are still busy and over-priced.

Ripped off @ $2.19 this morning about 6:30, but just drove up and pumped it at the local station.
