Construction noise at Phantom Ranch currently?

Post by UPhiker »

Hi, Wisconsinite here - a longtime canyon visitor. I've done 45 backpacking trips there.

Question. Is the water system rebuild at the ranch leading to a lack of ambience down there? Frequent helicopter arrivals or loud power tools?

I have a permit for next Thursday. An in and out, down the B.A. and over to Cedar Spring and back. And, I'm wondering about swinging by the ranch - either on a day hike or possible permit change for a night there. Just wondering what the scene is like there these days.

@UPhiker hey, I was told they've postponed the major construction to 2024? But i guess they've been working on water treatment for a few months now. so right now everything is chill and as it usually is. They'll be closing half the campground and i think all of the cabins when construction actually begins. Also mule rides will be suspended.
So when you hear all that is happening that's when you know it'll be loud down there during the day.
