No I don't mean getting to the trailhead,
but rather how many miles are you all typically getting out of a pair of Trail Shoes.
I have a pair of Merrell Moab Ventilators that have been very kind to my feet this year, and fit like a glove, but the bottoms are starting to smooth out a bit after 300+ miles. Is this typical shoe wear that the rest of you have been seeing?

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Re: What kind of mileage are you getting
After 400 miles or so the heels on my oboz start getting worn, at which point I replace them. My right shoe wears out before the left one.
Civilization is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there

Re: What kind of mileage are you getting
I usually expect a max of 400 miles out of a pair of shoes, which is generally accepted as common in the running world. There are certain exceptions but often even if the tread looks good, the midlayer has gone to trash, and it ends up causing issue. When I was still really running, the shoes that I loved the most only got me 300 miles or so and it sucked changing monthly, but thems the ropes. Just wait for sales and would buy 6-12 pairs of last seasons model. I always keep a couple beat up pairs around for flatter hikes/stuff where I'd be in and out of water a lot.
With certain dedicated hiking/approach shoes, you can get more out of them but I often see people start complaining about niggles in a knee or ankle that go away when they get a new shoe, even if they still had tread.
I agree those shoes in the pic have plenty of life left in them, though. Going downhill is generally going to wear on the front of your shoe vs the rear and there's still tons there so it could just be a psychological thing/you were on looser/smaller rock/etc.

More on the heel wear: Apparently they wear down to make a zero drop shoe. I immediately noticed the rise in the heel in my replacement shoes of the same model. Which doesn't feel right.
Be careful. It really is "a jungle out there."

@TooOld2Hike_EP
Salomon always welcomes customer feedback, and they’d probably have more insight into how the shoes were designed than we do in the forum.

Stop crying and just go do the hike.
