Fossil Creek hiking past Waterfall to caves or grottoes
Has anyone ever hiked up creek from the Waterfall at the end of Fossil Creek Waterfall Trail? (Now called the Dixon Lewis Trail). Is there a way to walk to the top of that Waterfall and further back to play in the water? Trail? Bushwhacking? Is there an area called the caves or the grottoes or the Toilet Bowl? lol. Thanks in advance

I have not, but it can be done, see the attached map. As far as I know, you need a permit currently, I don't know if any of the roads is closed or any wildfires in the area...
You're basically aiming for fossil springs in the upper right, that has a waterfall, grotto, and the toilet bowl. Don't go into the toilet bowl.

I have some friends who hiked down from the old dam to the top of the waterfall. They described it as type 2 fun.
