I'm looking for info on Upper Pumphouse Wash from basically James Canyon North. Are there backpacking camp sites anywhere along the wash that aren't near the FR237 poophole area?
I was thinking of hiking down from Kelly Pocket and taking Pumphoyse out to make a short loop. It's an overnighter with my son and nephews.

Re: Pumphouse Wash
@k9hiker I don't recall anything well-established in this area. There might be a flat bank or two that would work, but it's so close to town and so short in overall distance that backpacking and camping here are not common. And while I have not been there recently, based on summer rains in the area, I would expect to find minimal water, except for some pools (probably muddy) in the bedrock from summer storms.
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Re: Pumphouse Wash
Thank you. Gonna try to check it out on a day wander. The canyon aspect and close drive seemed an appealing choice for an easy 1 nighter
