Hiking vehicles
What kind of vehicles do you guys all drive when your going hiking? Im thinking about investing in a 4wd high clearance Jeep or something of the sort so I could get to some places where I definitely couldnt get to with what Im driving now (73 mustang):) I saw a Jeep Grand Cherokee today for $2600 and I was thinking about checking it out. What "hiking vehicle" is easiest to drive and which gets the best gas mileage (even though I know most wouldnt be too fuel efficient.)

Re: Hiking vehicles
The water crossings are no problem with that ground clearance combined with those spoked bicycle wheels.

@chumley
You think a mount for a baseball card to hit the spokes was a dealer add-on? You can get any card you want, as long as it's an ace of spades

Re: Hiking vehicles
Still have my 4Runner but picked up another hiking vehicle. 2026 Passport Trailsport Elite. Haven't taken it off road yet.
Hiking is just walking where it’s okay to pee.

@LosDosSloFolks I always appreciate the obfuscation of the identifying plate which is publicly seen by countless people everyday. Apparently it doesn't actually do what you think it does, or you'd already know who it is!

As much I have a soft spot in my heart for Broncos, bought a brand new1982, this racing criteria doesn't sway me. A Rolls Royce could be a hiking vehicle...

Re: Hiking vehicles
Some folks got ahold of a released patent drawing for the purported Baby Land Cruiser or FJ, teased in 2023. Supposedly coming in 2026 now. The drawing and subsequent art work looks like to me a "smushed" FJ cruiser, with the back end pretty vertical. Planning on the same framework as the HIlux and Fortner with allegedly diesel and gasoline motor options. Looks ugly AF but if it's off road pedigree lines up; I'll be in line for one.

Re: Hiking vehicles
I almost gave up on the rumors being true. However, it'll be a long time before I let go of my 4Runner. I've never liked a vehicle so much, except when I'm off-camber.RedRoxx44 wrote: ↑Jun 27 2025 12:02 pm Some folks got ahold of a released patent drawing for the purported Baby Land Cruiser or FJ, teased in 2023. It looks like they stole the designer behind the honda element and said, "make it offroadish!"RedRoxx44 wrote: Looks ugly AF
