Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Nearly 1.5" at my place near Cave Creek/Deer Valley crossroads. It was glorious except for the morning run with approximately 82405% humidity.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
There was 1/2 inch of rain at my house overnight, which no doubt was the result of me washing and waxing my truck yesterday. You're welcome!

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Good rain in the Blue Range too, the Strayhorse rain gauge continues to have a decent monsoon and has recorded two more inches of rain than the gauge in Alpine that I like to check up on. Strayhorse picked up an additional 1.39 inches of rain over the last 30 hours or so.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
We had about 1" in Southern Paradise Valley last night. Would have had more if we had been in the guts of the cell I'm sure, but we just caught the very small southern tip of it according to the radar. A mile south of us probably only got wind and sprinkles.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Just saw where Tucson is supposedly in it's third driest monsoon since records started in 1895. Previous ones were last year and 2020. One of the weather experts stated the high pressure has been driving most of the rains into New Mexico and west Texas. So much for the " wetter than normal" guesstimate.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Depending on what actually happens over the next 10 or 20 years, that scenario would be a disturbing trend if it became the more common one from the old summer monsoon flow into the SW USA. A 50% failure of the monsoon for a given year, and being caused by a blocking high, would be concerning especially when it follows dry winters. Not just for the Sky Islands, but for the Colorado River, which seems to be the case.

Well, with yesterday's azpocalypse behind us, I find the most amusing interactions today to be how incredibly strongly people cling to whatever they believe about the terminology "dust storm" vs "haboob". If only they had an eagle available to query a chatbot for them!

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Awesome rains/winds at I-17/Carefree Highway. Stopped, had dinner and waited it out before driving to Lake Pleasant. By the time I set up camp there, the rain was over and slept like a baby with a cool breeze and all the windows open. Really lucked out in the heat department for that one night!

@LosDosSloFolks
Pretty far to the west and I wasn't that far north until around 6pm. Needed to get to Pleasant for a place to sack out for the night. I'll let you know when I'm closer to the 'hood. Once it cools down more, I'll be desert camping more and hiking the area more.

Weather people seem excited about a tropical depression maybe bringing rain to So AZ later this week. If it plays out my southern playground could get a lot of rain. Fingers Crossed!

Flash Flood warnings for Death Valley! A few days ago Furnace Creek saw 3 months worth of rain in 1 hour. Lake Manley might rise again-- I was so fortunate to see it a couple of years ago.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
Looks like my house got absolutely drenched compared to other areas of the valley last night; a bit over an inch where I'm seeing less the .25 in most the rest of the valley. Seems pretty consistent that this area (near deer valley/cave creek) always gets a lot more than other areas for whatever reason. I'll take it.

Re: Atmosphere Comparison
@xsproutx My house tallied .94" -- the most in a single event in two years. A very, very welcome outcome. We'll have to see if the storms stabilized the atmosphere too much to keep the Lorena moisture from firing storms later today.
