Those lows really help mentally, if nothing else. I walk my daughter to school most days and last year was absolutely horrible but this year, not so bad. My wife runs 5-8 miles most mornings and was able to wake up later this year to get it done while being comfortableish.
I'd probably murder most her classmates to get those 1980 lows, though :y:

That very common and popular belief keeps most central Arizonans away from the river, which is a good thing, because everyone from Canada, the northern tier states, Utah and all of California know it as a haven in winter, a summer water skiing playground, etc. If people from Phoenix knew about it, it would be more crowded than it already is.

The trails in my neighborhood are built through the two washes that bisect my subdivision and they are just deep enough to trap cool air in the mornings. First morning in a while it felt refreshing to do my morning hike through the neighborhood. It was 80 degrees at my house and probably 72 degrees once I got to the trails a few minutes stroll away. Can't wait until the end of the week when the potential for temps in the upper 60's will be possible.

I did my first bikepacking trip out there a few years back based on a recommendation from someone here! It was fun! I really want to get into paddling which isn't something I've done for 20 years since I lived back east. Might have to hit you up for some beta at some point since it seems like you've been all around.

Still a black hole though...!

Currently under a flash flood warning, a little rain but some very loud bright lightning displays. Few minutes later, getting pretty good rain.

Mario had a name for about 12 minutes ("Still counts!" - Andy Samberg) but somehow its remnant moistitude might grace the skies over our fine state in the next few days. Overall forecast totals appear to be unimpressive, but a local storm or two could have an impact. I've yet to see reports of sandbags being handed out.

Well that was a fun night. Over an inch here and a friend sent this from their house. Heard a boom, and bam... tree on fire. FD responded quickly, apparently, but had to come back out an hour later as it had reignited.

Some nice rain totals in isolated spots across the state. The Pinals and central Mazzies got hammered. Pinal Creek flashed to 1500cfs. Out west some of the desert ranges saw their annual averages happen in a day. The north valley took a quality ride on the Mario Kart. LosDosSnorkel? :)

Indeed. Well over an inch and a half, but the lightning strikes were the star of the show. I can't remember having as many strikes where the flash and boom were simultaneous. Still sprinkling and rumbling as I write this. The creek is certainly flowing well.

.5 inches recorded at Sunset Point over the last 24 hours.
1 inch in the rain gauge at the GF’s place in town, 32nd street, Indian School area. The Strayhorse rain gauge in the Blue Range continues to have a solid precip year and has now recorded 11.2 inches of precip this year, by comparison Alpine is running about five inches behind with 6.3” recorded so far.

I'm not quite as far north of you but similar; thunder and lightning all night long. Haven't seen something like that here but maybe once since I've been here. Ironically, my dog didn't care (and he's a little baby) but my daughter who normally sleeps through everything got scared and ran into our bed for the first time in a looooong time.

1 1/2 inch ysterday and overnight and a half inch today. Quite the lighting on Pine Mountain and Ceder Bench Wilderness. Rain started late afternoon as usual when taking groceries into the house.

We had a nice rain today in Eagar, but I doubt it was an inch. Springerville airport recorded a little less than 1/4 inch. I'm sure some spots got more, because it looked like a spotty kind of storm. I took the opportunity to nap and read a book. Very relaxing.

Better late than never, the Ritas have picked up some decent totals over the last 7 days. Wrightson, Ian, and the crest up to Florida Saddle have had 2 to 3 inches according to the radar estimate. The 30 day estimate for that same area is in the 4 to 5 inch band. The winter was virtually precipitation free, with 0.10 inches recorded at Hopkins station from October 1 to nearly June, but over 4 inches is pretty normal for later summer rain amounts.

The monsoon might not be a thing anymore, but these autumn-ish cutoff lows pumping in moisture off the socal coast are nice to see, and I'm here for them. It'll be interesting to see how things pan out over the next 3-4 days but the entire SE quadrant of the state looks primed to get an inch of rain or more, and that's not a bad thing in my book.
