Seeing as I have no life at the moment and have lots of time I Googled several professional birder sites and the consensus seems to be that it is the same bird with the same plumage.
Many blamed a current woke movement to rename birds and urged everyone to "resist". In truth it seems the bird was named "Copper Tailed Trogon" until the early 70's when the Copper Tailed was dropped and replaced with Elegant. Now it's back to "Coppery Tailed".
I know we have several birders on HAZ that hopefully will chime in with more facts concerning this pressing and urgent matter.

I knew I had crossed into solid mid-life when that kept getting recommended to me. I clearly would pause, read a bit, and move on and facebook knew exactly what was going on

The Bird-Naming people claim to have the power to change bird names. They are not going to ask us how we feel about it, (let alone the birds.) They don’t care if we've misspent a lifetime trying to learn the names, only to have to start all over. It's a travesty, I tell you, and would be front page news if really important things actually made the front page. If there was still a front page.

There will be no more Anna's Hummingbird, Harris's Hawk, Merriam's Quail, Stellar's Jay.

The people renaming all these species have no life at the moment. The days of recognizing people for their achievements/finds/contributions are over.
